Everything has its own timing…

8 years ago, In Goa I was teaching yoga in a few yoga shalas  and performing Sufi dance from time to time… I was looking for some other practices to give me more ground and a friend I met back then mentioned “ Kalaripayattu” to me… She also mentioned a school in Kerala…

I searched the net, also sent an email to get some info… But life took me into other journeys and I put Kalari in a treasure box of my passions to be explored at its right timing…

Then in 2019, I made a last minute decision to go back to India after 7 years since that first Kalari calling!

I went to the South of India , in Kerala… As they call it “ The land of Gods”… I Discovered India for the first time through Kerala in 2002, When i went there for the first time…

I took part in an amazing 3 weeks retreat during the sacred time of Navaratri with Shiva Rea, and the irony is that we also started the practice of Kalari in early mornings exactly at the same school I’ve been in contact with 7 years prior when I was In Goa…

I stayed in Kerala after Shiva’s group left for another 2 months and continued practicing kalari everyday at the Kalaripayattu school…

I feel so blessed with this practice and all that I learned during a dedicated 3 months of practice which is priceless…

Practicing on this hard ground was not easy, I ripped off the skin under my feet due to the practices , But kept on going even when I was bleeding on my feets!… Also I was familiar with that kind of injury due to my other dance exercises…

Passion makes you go beyond your pain and fears…

I enjoyed so much these morning practices that nothing could stop me! Once the season changed  I got a bad cold! And even with fever , I kept on going to my early morning sessions, then back to rest for the whole day!

What I learned in Kalari was devotion, discipline, patience,to be humble and receive the master with an open heart. Try again and again and do not give up even when your mind tells you to stop or that you are not strong enough for this practice…

To move in an order,  to find space and give space for other participants …

It helps you to feel your ground and be in the centre of your power…

Kalari is The way of a peaceful warrior
